About Me

Hi all! My name is Joban Dhanoa and I am the face behind Marigold Counselling Services. I am a Registered Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.

I obtained my Masters of Social Work from the University of British Columbia Okanagan, shortly after I completed my Masters of Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph. I was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario (traditional territory of Anishnabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Ojibway/Chippewa peoples). Currently, I live and work in Victoria, British Columbia (on the unceded traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ, Songhees and Esquimalt peoples).

Why Marigold

The name “Marigold Counselling Services” was inspired by my late grandfather, Avtar Singh Dhanoa and his favourite flower. My grandfather lived his life prioritizing uplifting others. It is with this deep commitment to supporting others, creating safer spaces and justice that I chose Marigold as a name, carrying on my papa ji’s legacy through the principles that guide my work.
